Bouncers at a popular Bedfordview nightclub, as well as security guards, will face charges of attempted murder and robbery following an altercation with a patron.

According to one eyewitness, who cannot be named due to ongoing investigations, a scuffle broke out between two patrons and bouncers at the club on December 12.

“This happened at about 1am,” said the witness.

He added that once the fight had ended, security guards arrived at the scene.

“The guys involved in the fight were speaking when one of the security guards pulled out his pepper spray and sprayed everyone,” said the witness.

Two people standing close-by fled the scene.

“A security guard then attacked one of the men with a chain,” he said.

The man was then allegedly handcuffed while security and some of the nightclub’s bouncers continued their attack on him.

“The victim’s phone, wallet and car keys were taken from him,” said the witness.

He added that the victim only received his emptied wallet and car keys the following day.

“His phone was never returned to him,” said the witness.

He added that the man was then left to bleed on the floor inside the night club while bouncers and security guards simply watched.

According to the witness, when patrons asked members of the Bedfordview SAPS to intervene, they were told the matter would be “sorted out” the following day.

“An off duty paramedic attended to the man and an ambulance was called. The man was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his wounds,” said the witness.

The Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabthi, confirmed that a case was opened.

Due to ongoing investigations, further details relating to the case could not be made available to the NEWS at the time of going to print.
