Despite the pressures put on teenagers nowadays, the national matric pass rate improved for the 2017 year.
According to the matric statistics, more than three quarters of matric learners passed the year.
In second place was Gauteng‚ which achieved an 85.1 per cent pass rate with Ekurhuleni being the fourth best district with an 89.1 per cent pass rate.
Gauteng registered the second highest number of candidates for the examinations; and had the second highest number of candidates who wrote the examinations. Once again, Gauteng recorded the second highest number of Bachelor and Diploma passes.
The pass rate for the Independent Examination Board (IEB) for the matric class of 2017 has increased from 98.67 per cent in 2016 to 98.76 per cent.s
Students from schools within the Bedfordview and Edenvale areas received many achievements for the 2017 matric year.
