Edenvale Vets honour their late team member

Bala Govender died on the field while playing a home game in January 2013.

The Edenvale veterans hosted a memorial tournament to honour their former team mate who died three years ago.

Bala Govender, who moved from Durban to live in Edenvale, died on January 16, 2013 during a match at Edenvale Sports Grounds.

Team coach, Mr Gerald Asaram, said the team decided to hold the tournament annually to honour their former team mate.

“Bala collapsed on the field while playing a home game with only 10 minutes left in the game. He was 39 years old. We host the memorial every year to honour him,” Mr Asaram said.
