Biker association to support EMS

Seen here are newly-patched Firefighters Joburg members Dirk Koch, Pete Vellerman, Edie Koch, Jan Liebenberg, Elmare Liebenberg, Holly Davis and Cliff Davis.

South African Emergency Care (SAEC), based in Modderfontein, launched South Africa’s first motorcycle association aimed at providing support and encouragement to the fire department and emergency services.

The club was launched on July 29.

Firefighters Joburg aims to honour the firefighters and paramedics who always assist at motorcycle accidents and emergencies.

The objective of the group will be to ride to various fire stations to encourage emergency services personnel to keep up the good work and to continue saving lives.

The Firefighters Association will be established as a national footprint and already has members in Pretoria and Cape Town.

The patching ceremony for group leaders attracted firefighters, bikers and civilians from across Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.

A number of bike associations were in attendance to witness the historic moment.
