Leak not fixed properly by metro

A fed up resident contacted the NEWS to report that a water leak on Chaucer Avenue which the metro fixed on May 15 was in fact not fixed.

“The leak is still there and the rubble from the repairs is piled up on the paving. They just don’t do a proper job,” the resident said.

Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe said a neighbour’s leaking irrigation system was the cause of the ongoing leak.

“The reported water leak was repaired and excavation was backfilled.

“Technicians further repaired a leaking valve in close proximity to the first leak that was repaired. On further investigation it was discovered that a neighbour’s leaking irrigation system was the cause of the leak and this was brought to the attention of the owner,” pointed out Gadebe.

He added that a team of technicians would make a follow up visit to the property concerned to ensure that all leaks are timeously repaired.

“Reinstatement of the paved area will continue as soon as all the leaks have been repaired and the area is sufficiently dry.”
