Thank you NEWS

EDITOR – On behalf of the Khanyisa Trust I wish to express our deepest gratitude to you for the wonderful support you continue to give to the Khanyisa Trust.

We have been operating for 27 years providing support to the destitute, the unemployed, the homeless and the hungry in our community.

Our very first venture took place on September 1, 1990 when HOPE started washing cars at the van Riebeeck Mall. Your paper was there to publish a photo of the Mayor having his car washed.

It is easy for charitable organisations to spring up. It only takes the enthusiasm of a few who want to reach out and help.

It takes a different kind of mission, however, to sustain such organisations. We know we get divine support for the work we do, but apart from that we really appreciate all those who contribute to the ongoing success of our ministry.

Part of that band of supporters is the Bedfordview and Edenvale News who have been faithful to our cause all along. Your recent exposure of the work we do, the people who support it and the moving stories of some of our beneficiaries, has stimulated a whole new burst of compassion in the heart of Edenvale, for those less fortunate than ourselves.

I cannot express in words, the value of your support and my appreciation for putting our work into the spotlight.

So often our press is criticised for only telling the bad news. It is admirable that you have highlighted the good news of what we are doing for the community of Edenvale.

The role that you play in our community to bring this important work to the attention of our town, is highly commendable and we are deeply grateful to you for sharing the stories over the past few weeks.

What is also important is the support you have stirred up amongst your readers. We are truly humbled by the outflow of support in kind, time and money that we have received to keep our mission thriving.

This is especially important to us, as we receive no government support for the critical support we give to the marginalised people in Edenvale

Thank you again for your ongoing support for the Khanyisa Trust and our activities. May you be richly blessed.

John Povey, chairman of Khanyisa Trust.
