Working together to fight crime

Concerns that were raised by a community member have been addressed by both the Edenvale SAPS and the Edenvale CPF.

August 25 saw Edenvale SAPS, Edenvale CPF and members of security companies join forces in a visibility operation to prevent crime.

Capt Jean Olckers, spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, said the operation was a success and resulted in seven arrests.

Six were drug-related arrests and one was connected to a suspicious vehicle which was found to have false number plates.

During the operation organised by the head of Edenvale’s Social Crime Prevention Unit, Sgt Jacob Mashile, six liquor outlets were visited.

“The operation went very well. I am looking forward to the next one,” said Mashile.

He explained that operations such as these will assist the police with the upcoming festive season.

“We need the community to stand up with the police and help us,” said Mashile.

Olckers said there were 30 vehicles involved in the operation.

The next operation will be held on September 8.

Community members are urged to report all crimes and work with their local police officers.

The police can be reached on 0860 010 111, 10111 or local sector numbers.
