UPDATE: Son of woman (86) attacked and robbed in Edenvale speaks out

The injuries sustained by Kathleen Thomson (86) when she was attacked and robbed by three men who initially requested directions to Karaglen.

Paul Thomson confirmed to the NEWS that the woman in the CCTV footage who is attacked and robbed by three men is his 86-year-old mother, Kathleen Thomson from Edenvale.

Paul told the NEWS the robbery took place at about 12 noon on Wednesday on Van Jaarsveld Road in Eastleigh.

“I went to pick up my mom to take her to the doctor – so she was expecting me.

“She was speaking to a neighbour and when she heard a car approaching, she went outside as she thought it was me.

“They drove past her, turned back and then stopped and asked her for directions to Karaglen. As she was explaining to them, they jumped out of the car.

“They took her handbag and rings and the one then got aggressive and pushed her to the ground. My mom wanted to prevent him from taking the house keys,” said Paul who arrived at his mom’s house at that time.

The footage shows Paul reverse his car to keep up with the robbers as they leave the scene.

“I slammed into them so their vehicle should have damage to the right tail light. I then returned to my mom,” said Paul.

Kathleen was transported to Roseacres Hospital and has since been discharged.

“She is doing better now. She is a fighter,” said Paul.
