UPDATE: SAPS confirm robbery on Van Riebeeck Avenue

The Edenvale SAPS has confirmed that an unknown number of suspects have fled a crime scene at the intersection of Van Riebeeck Avenue and Ninth Street this afternoon.

According to Captain Jean Olckers, the five suspects followed their victim from an unknown location.

The suspects forced their victim to drive into another vehicle.

“The victim immediately exited his car and fled the area on foot. The suspects removed three bags from the victim’s car before fleeing the scene,” Olckers said.

He added that the suspects were all armed with rifles.

The contents of the three bags are unknown as the victim has yet to return to the scene following the incident.

No arrests have been made.
