Learners celebrate Youth Day

The community came together to celebrate Youth Day.

Jeppe SAPS and Touch the Mind Foundation hosted a Youth Day event at Athlone Boys High School on June 16.

Spokesperson for Jeppe SAPS Capt Richard Munyayi said more than 1 000 learners participated in the event.

“The aim of the event was to make the day memorable for the learners and to bring the community together.

“Learners from Bedfordview, Eastgate, Troyeville and Bertrams Junior primary schools took part. They also participated in a soccer and netball tournament,” he said.

Munyayi thanked those who supported the event.

“We would like to thank all the parents who accompanied their children, teachers, coaches, the Bertrams Junior Primary School governing body, Touch the Mind Foundation, Athlone Boys High School and sponsors for making the day unforgettable,” he said.

The event was sponsored by Bertrams Spar, Old Mutual, Nandos SA and McDonald’s.
