After seeing the first Born To Perform gala concerts and recognising the potential and vision of Gemma and Matthew Marinus, maestro extraordinaire Bryan Schimmel joined forces with them as co-creator and director for this year’s show.
The team has been able to put together a dazzling array of diverse young talent, not only as performers on stage but also as young choreographers and music arrangers.
“As someone who champions the development of young talent, I am thrilled to get behind Matthew and Gemma’s vision to create a platform where children have a platform to be creative and expressive, as well as have space where they can develop important life skills,” said Schimmel.
“I have delegated more than half of the customised musical arrangements to two up-and-coming 22-year-old arrangers, Gav Rubin and Dean Salant, who are working under my guidance and supervision, and honing their skills in the process.”
Entertainment value will be high, featuring a spectrum of musical and choreographic styles that will take the audience on a journey from pop to hip-hop, from ballet to rock ‘n roll, from opera to a classic Latin American hit Despacito which will be performed in 12 different languages.
The audience will be treated to a number of surprises and heart-tugging moments as they continue their enjoyment of hits from musicals like Dear Evan Hansen and Hamilton, to favourites from The Greatest Showman to Prince and others.
Shine! promises to be a thrilling display of song and dance provided by a wide array of budding talent alongside some leading stars currently heating up the airwaves.
