Round Table Edenvale 63 recently lent a hand when they donated a number of beds to Haven Care Centre in Kempton Park.
The group made the donation on August 4 after visiting the centre in June.
Vice-chairperson of Round Table Edenvale 63 Gerhard Swart said they were informed by the center’s caretaker, André Roets, that the sleeping conditions for some of the children were unpleasant.
“We received a very heartfelt welcome upon arrival with the beds,” said Gerhard.

“Residents were excited to see us and very appreciative of what we came to do.”
During their visit, roundtable met the founder of the centre, Pem Morgan, who shared the centre’s history.
Originally, the centre started as a soup kitchen and grew from there.
Gerhard said each donated bed was furnished with mattresses and brand new bedding.
“Edenvale 63 left there determined to start working on new ideas to help the centre.”
